GAMEATHLON in collaboration with the Game Developers Association of Greece organized this year Hellenic Game Awards 2025 (HeGA). This joint action concerned both the recognition of Greek game development and its domestic promotion, especially among gamers, and the encouragement of them to get involved with the industry. An event dedicated exclusively to games made in Greece and the endless talent that governs our game developer community. The main pillars were three: the award (Game of the Year), the creation (Day-Zero) and the launch (Next Gen) .
The Game of the Year competition aimed to highlight and award the best Greek games with an official release in 2024 - on PC, console or mobile. The award ceremony took place on Saturday, September 13th at the main stage of Gameathlon.
At the same time, Day-Zero ran! Developers - professional and non-professional were invited to submit demos for new, unannounced games (made e.g. at a game jam). The 3 Finalists won cash prizes and had free space to showcase their projects at the Hellenic Game Awards booth.
Finally, this year the Next Gen took place, highlighting the top efforts from people under 18 years of age with an on-stage presentation, a computer at the Hellenic Game Awards booth, and symbolic prizes.
So, at Gameathlon on September 12-14, visitors had the opportunity to meet the creators and enjoy their games - having already voted online for their favorite day demos and games!
This year's total prize pool exceeded €5,000, with the bases being secured by Gameathlon (€800) and the Hellenic Digital Game Creators Association (€200).
E.K.K.O.M.E.D. S.A. contributed €4,020 to the prize pool and another €980 to the organization costs, and Knorr contributed as a sponsor to the organization - we thank them for their support of the Greek digital game creation community and industry!
You can find the results on the following pages.
